I'm my beloveds and my beloveds is mine My partner and I have come with a great idea for our STP that involves our interest and the community. We want to hold a fundraiser for our STP. On April 12, 2014 we want to have a Walk and Roll A-Thon for Disability Awareness. With your, help and support we can make our STP a huge success. Please help us beast our goal of $1,000. All proceeds will go to RHD (Resources for Human Development) and Artist Exchange who care for adults with disabilities. The funding we raise will go towards the clients supplies and therapy. How I picture my project is a great open location with plenty of space. With the money I fundraise I want to give back to my internships Artist Exchange and RHD- Resources of Human Development. I will be accepting money donations as well. Other things that would have to be associated with my walk and roll a-thon for disability awareness is plenty of advertisement, different techniques and ideas of fundraising, location, and a possibility of having food and music. I am also interested in any product donation needed for this event such as tables and chairs so organizations are able to set up booths and sponsor themselves. Who will be helping me with my project are my school advisor Yasmin, internship mentors Jenny and Paul, volunteers, family, and friends. Finding someone whom has create, run, experienced or help fundraisers will also be a goal of mine in order to have a successful walk and roll a-thon. With someone who has the knowledge of being part of a fundraiser will guide me on the right path of what and what not to do while planning this event. This project will address further research and therapy for people who have disabilities. This project relates to my personal interest of Human Services, specifically working with people who have disabilities of any kind, of any age. In order for this project to be successful I will have to show the research I find, documentation, how much I raise, the amount of people that are willing to volunteer, support, and how much of my desire for helping people with disabilities will show throughout this progress and process. This is how the project will be successful. With this project I will face many challenges without a doubt. I am willing to overcome those challenges to have the overall event I want to have. I will face the challenges of stepping out of my comfort zone; speaking in front of schools and business I wish to present my event to, and unknown people. I will face math obstacles when learning how to fundraise, collecting money and spending money. I will learn how to work with people of all types of personalities and nationalities. Whatever it takes I will strive to do my best to make this event happen. The topic of my 10-12 page research paper will be Mental Health in the United States. Framing questions I hope to answer through my paper are: 1. What are the laws for people who have disabilities in the United States? 2. How do people with disabilities find jobs? 3. How do you deal with Mental Health? 4. The history of Mental Health? 5. How is Mental Health defined? 6. How was Mental Health dealt with compared to now? 7. How does Mental Health affect someone? The research paper will help me complete my understanding of people who have disabilities and how they are cared for which is the base of my Senior Thesis Project. I will be donating the founded money to Artist Exchange and RHD (Resources for Human Development). Through this project I will address the learning goals CO, PQ, SR and QR. I meet CO because I will be communicating with many people. I meet PQ because working with the disabled is what I want to do for my career. I meet SR with the research I will be studying and learning. Lastly I meet QR with the expenses and income of my Senior Project. This project will help me gain leadership, speaking, founding, mathematic, communication, personal qualities and community service skills. I will need as many resources I can find to have a successful Senior Thesis Project and have a great research paper. Materials that will be needed are for the main event and mini fundraisers. For the main event materials that will be needed are: 1. Dj 2. Music 3. Refreshments 4. Reception at the end of the event (tent) 5. T-shirts 6. Information bags (Artist Exchange, RHD, ect.) 7. Walk area (cost if needed) 8. Entrance fee (donations) Mini fundraising ideas we are planned to have are: 1. Car washes 2. Art shows (clients art work) 3. Handicap facilities (ask if they would like to donate or join us) 4. Disabilities sites 5. (Talk to local congress person (Mayor of Cranston)) 6. Craft fairs (ask clients to help sell 7. T-shirt and flyer design contest for the event 8. Silent auctions 9. 50/50 auctions I will document my work with many photos, videos, and blogs/journals. My mentors will critique my work at least once or twice each week. I will show my many pieces of evidence of my senior thesis project including my research paper at my final exhibition.
